How Leading Finance Company Manage Their Attendance and Payroll Process

Overview

Ernst & Young, commonly known as EY is one of the largest professional services networks in the world. Along with Deloitte, KPMG, and PwC, it is considered one of the Big Four accounting firms. EY has continuously been ranked on Fortune magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For the past 21 years, longer than any other accounting firm. It primarily provides assurance (which includes financial audit), tax, consulting, and advisory services to its clients. Like many of the larger accounting firms in recent years, EY has expanded into markets adjacent to accounting, including strategy, operations, HR, technology, and financial services consulting.

In 2017, EY Pakistan got in touch with EZYApps as they were looking for a software solution to automate their project management and HR processes. Here were some of the challenges that they were facing with their existing solution.

The Challenge:

  • Managing projects using the previous project management software, which included updating projects, recording hours, and cost, became increasingly challenging due to how slow and complicated the system was. Project managers were frustrated with the lag and complexity. They wanted to opt for a user-friendly solution.
  • The previous PM system’s complexity led to a lack of transparency – where the manager did not know exactly which employee was assigned to which task. Constant reminders were given to staff to update hours and tasks.
  • Project dependencies were not possible, which affected the planning stage of a project, and ultimately, the delivery time. Because tasks were updated manually, projects were created using minimal associated tasks.
  • Because of the complex nature of the previous PM system, user adoption was disturbingly low. It’s estimated that only 20% of staff were using the previous system.

Outcomes:

  • The ease of use has been a game-changer for the team at EY. Updating tasks, recording hours, and changing due dates is quick and intuitive. No heavy computer background is needed to use the software.
  • User adoption is dramatically higher, with more than 80% of staff using EZYApps to its full potential.
  • Utilizing project dependencies has significantly increased project accuracy. Projects are now comprised of 50 60 detailed tasks, yet all tasks and billable hours can still be easily updated, resulting in faster project planning, more project control, and quicker delivery times.
  • Reporting is now automated, project managers have more visibility into timeline and cost deviations which helps keep customers and senior management informed.
  • Apart from the project management feature, EZYApps also helped HR managers of EY automate their payroll generation process using our software.
